Recently, I added myself to a very prestigous list of names (less than 20 in the world!) by completing the RKC Beast Tamer Challenge. For those of you that are reading my blog for the first time, please reference this post to understand what the Beast Tamer Challenge is. I decided I was going to accomplish this goal over five years ago, back when I first started training with kettlebells.
You can see the video by going here:
Accomplishing this challenge in front of so many enthusiastic peers was such a great experience. I can only express gratitude and thanks to the entire RKC community for bringing so many like-minded, awesome people together for these certifications. It has also been such a privledge to learn from the best minds in the strength industry and utilize that knowledge to accomplish such an awesome feat of full body strength. In this way, Hard-Style training has literally transformed my life.
The best part of becoming a Beast Tamer is realizing how many other people you inspire to believe in themselves and accomplish the goals they set. I was honored to have Master RKC Geoff Neupert include me as an example of perserverance in his lecture on program design. He referenced the fact that had I given up and switched over to something else (like marathon running) after the first time I failed to press the Beast, I would never be where I am now. More importantly, I would never have learned the underlying lesson of persistence and patience that translates so beautifully over to life as a whole.
My next blog post will outline, in detail, my training protocol that enabled me to complete this challenge. I aim to include my entire 5 year journey to ensure that my peers who also want to be able to complete this challenge (both men and women!) know that the challenge is a very attainable goal and know what key principals lead to my success. Naturally, my protocal fits neatly into the programming principals that are Hard-Style with a couple other key factors (think nutrition!).
Stay Tuned and thanks for reading!
